Influencer Tip of the Day
Never submit your media kit in your first email to a brand! Sending an attachment will put the email in their spam and they likely will...
Let's Get Started
It can be easy to want to jump right into the "Influencer Life," but you will be far more successful if you begin your journey by establishing your accounts. If you want to use your Instagram as your main account for collabs, you should focus on making your page look as clean as possible. This means having over 100 photos on your account that are high quality and focus on you. Avoid lots of group photos or pictures that only certain people find value in. The goal is for strangers to be interested in your page, so you need to post content that would get someone to follow you even if they don't know you. What do you have to offer your followers? I would spend a good 2-4 weeks establishing your account before you decide to reach out to brands.
It is super important to know what your niche is before you reach out to brands. A niche is essentially a theme or category that your account falls under. Some popular examples are Fashion, Fitness, Travel, Beauty and Makeup. Niches are important because they help you decide what types of brands you want to work with. When a brand views your page it is important that they see what you are interested in and that your followers are interested in it too.
A media kit is essential if you want to be an Influencer. This is essentially a resume for Influencers that includes your name, contact info, follower count, engagement rate, and content examples. You will use this when reaching out to brands so they have all the info they need about you at their fingertips. If you do not have a media kit, I offer easy to use, custom made templates below or will make one for you from scratch!
What to do after the First Steps
There are TONS of Influencer Platforms out there. These are designed to help connect you with brands easily. Some of them require you to apply while others accept anyone. Some of the best platforms are Activate, Fohr, AspireIQ, Influenster, Obviously and #Paid. The more platforms you are on the better! It will only help you reach more brands.
Now that you know your niche, it is time to compile a list of ay least 50 brands you want to work with. A lot of people want to shoot for the starts here but try to start small and build your resume before reaching out to the bigger brands. Make sure the brands are within your nice and have a product that you actually want to promote. Your followers look up to you so you should be working with brands you actually believe in. While making your list, make sure you follow the brand and write down their email. DO NOT message them on Instagram for a collab. It does not come off as professional. Send them a well worded, professional email. If you are not sure how to pitch to brands I offer a brand pitching template pack that will give you everything you need to send the perfect pitch to brands. Click below to access that.
You finally made it! It is time to start pitching to brands. Make sure to not get in over your head. It is possible that a lot of brands might want to work with you. Make sure you are keeping track of every email sent and every response you get. You want to treat this like you are a new employee at a new job. Always be kind and respectful because they may want to work with you again. It is also so important to give each brand quality content. Never be lazy with a collab. Make sure the brand gets exactly what you offered and more. The photos should be high quality and your caption should be informative and engaging to your followers. Above anything else, have fun and believe in yourself! If you have any questions please email me and I would be happy to help!
